The Masquerade has been known since its inception in 1989 as one of the country's most unique nightclub facilities. Housed in a rustic turn-of-the-century mill, old gears and machinery bits can still can still be found lying around, giving the place a real industrial feel. This notorious establishment is three venues in one- hell, purgatory and heaven, and caters to everyone from ravers to rednecks.

Hell is a large dance pit on the main level, surrounded by elevated tables and a large bar slightly above it. Hell is 18 years and up, and its Thursday '80s nights have become infamous in Atlanta. Other nights you can find anything from techno music to foam parties. The floorboards on the dance floor may creak, but the people-watching is well worth the admission price.

Next to Hell is Purgatory, with pool tables, video games, the jukebox, and a bar. It has a Pub-like atmosphere, and is perfect for when you want to take a break from dancing. Go up the rickety wooden stairs and you’re in Heaven, the upstairs concert venue with its own bar, attracts shows mainly in the alternative-music genre. It has a 1000+ capacity, and its elevated stage enables you to get a good view of your favorite band no matter where you stand in its wide, accommodating space.
