Illuminated by the warm glow of soft cream lighting, the unique design of The Mark’s interior radiates elegance with its contrasting color schemes of blacks against whites and dark wood against creams. Furthermore, it pits the sleek, clean lines of modern, Asian-inspired décor against the curves of 50s retro designs. The front lounge is the most distinct exemplification of this innovative style, fashioned with both square, black leather divans and round, white plastic egg chairs.

The senses are stimulated by the splendor of trickling water walls, flickering flatscreens, and such uniquities as terrariums and fish bowls with live betas. With its newly renovated design, The Mark could compete with the swanky lounges you might expect to find in a ritzy New York hotel, so it’s hard to imagine that this was formerly downtown’s hazy club Karma. The atmosphere, however, is very relaxed and intimate, and the crowd is more hipster than pretentious.

This inviting ambiance is further enhanced by the courteous, fast and generous bar staff. On Fridays and Saturdays the dance floor is sure to be packed, with high-energy house thumping out of its new sound system. When you’ve danced up an appetite, get a bite from the Cuban sandwich shop in the courtyard Sidebar. Also check out The Mark on weeknights for a more unique atmosphere, with events such as independent film screenings and Tuesday Board Game Night.
