Imperial Fez is much more than a meal, it’s an experience. One of Atlanta’s most unique restaurants, their multi-course Moroccan feast is showcased by its traditionally garbed service, very exotic tent-like setting, candlelight and live performances of music and belly dancing. With luxurious fabrics and sheer curtains draping from the ceiling and the walls, and majestic columns found throughout, you’ll soon be feeling like royalty. To get the full effect of being in Morocco, take off your shoes and lean back on one of the many colorful pillows lining the floors as seating for the low tables. You can practically feel the excitement in the air of the other diners as each new titillating course is brought and as the music and dancers increase in energy. You can’t help but get in the spirit.

Moroccan food is meant to be eaten with your hands, so for a truly cultural experience, dive your hands into your meal. The night starts and ends with a hand washing, and you’re given a towel on your shoulder to wipe your hands. The fixed price menus are set from $25-65 a head, but with the vast portions and variety of your courses, the unique ambience, and the live entertainment, the experience is definitely worth it. At the entrance there is also a shop with Morrocan gifts like garments, lamps, jewelry and decorative boxes. Other tourist appeals include the selling of flowers and pictures during the meal, and special attention by the exuberant owner Rafih, spreading his enthusiasm and love of Morrocan culture.

The $45 and $65 price levels include 5 courses, starting with harrira, a traditional smoky lentil bean soup, a large assorted salad plate called shlada, b'stella (pastry-wrapped Cornish hen scented with cinnamon), an entree of your choice, and then mint tea with dessert. Fresh bread is also included. Most of the dishes have a sweet citrusy essence to them, and some favorites for the main dishes include tagine, a traditional slow-cooked dish with fish, vegetables or meat, their specialty lamb with honey and almonds, and kabobs. You’re almost guaranteed to have to get a doggie bag for all your leftover food. Imperial Fez is the perfect destination for special occasions, large groups or for impressing dates.
